Customization Design Review

During our demonstrations and presentations of OpenTechnology systems such as OpenMETRIC, we occasionally identify enhancements and modifications which will enable our software to EXACTLY FIT our client's specific requirements and objectives.

If these enhancements and modifications are significant in scope, we normally propose to perform a Customization Design Review to finalize these changes.

THE PROCESS

The Customization Design Review includes the following steps, activities, and events:

Step 1.	Senior Consultant(s) and or Senior Analyst(s) from DDS conduct a WonderWare Structured Requirements Analysis at your site. This takes between 3 and 5 days. We conduct a comprehensive review of all forms, reports, information flow, and procedures that will impact your new System. These functional requirements are reduced to a written document using the Structured Analysis techniques and methodologies of WonderWare. During this process, we develop a comprehensive understanding of your operations and requirements.
Step 2.	DDS Analysts design files, screens, reports, and demonstration materials incorporating appropriate modifications into the System.
Step 3.	You conduct an ON SITE Evaluation of a similar DDS System at a selected DDS client facility. This takes a little less than one full day. During this visit, you will learn how the client operates and how they use the DDS System to improve efficiency and economy.
Step 4.	You conduct an ON SITE Evaluation of DDS at our offices in Tucson. This takes between 2 and 4 days. During this step, you establish a working rapport with technical and administrative personnel of DDS, as well as review the customization designs which we have developed during Step 2. You and DDS Analysts identify additional changes and customization that may be necessary.
Step 5.	DDS Analysts develop the final Customization Design and review this design with you by phone or in person. Both you and DDS "sign off" on the design.
Step 6.	You and DDS determine an Implementation Plan for the project and the terms and conditions under which the customization will be accomplished. We typically submit written, fixed price quotations for the customization. However, we also offer more flexible "time and materials" arrangements, if you prefer.

SCHEDULING

Upon receipt of your Purchase Order, we arrange a mutually satisfactory schedule for the Customization Design Review. The entire Customization Design Review process usually takes between 4 and 6 weeks, and we will make every effort to schedule this project as quickly as possible after our receipt of your order.

DELIVERABLES

There are clear, identifiable deliverables that result from each of the 6 steps of the Customization Design Review.

 

Step 1.	At the end of the ON SITE analysis, we have extensive notes and documentation describing your functional requirements, together with samples of all current forms, documents, and reports.
Step 2.	At the end of the Design Document Preparation, we have working design documents from which your System can be implemented. These documents specify the files, screens, and reports to be incorporated into your System.
Step 3.	During the joint visit to see a similar DDS System, you gain an excellent understanding of how the new System can improve your efficiency and economy. This bridges the critical gap between imagining a system and actually "seeing and feeling" a similar system. In addition, you will undoubtedly pick up several new ideas of how things can be organized and managed. In many cases, these new ideas have produced dramatic new benefits for our customization clients.
Step 4.	During the ON SITE analysis at DDS, the Customized Design is reviewed and necessary revisions are identified and documented.
Step 5.	At the end of the Final Design Revisions, your customized system is completely designed and ready for implementation.
Step 6.	At the end of the Customization Design Review process, you and DDS determine the Implementation Plan and negotiate and execute an Agreement for the Implementation of the new System.

INVESTMENT

We will calculate a fixed price quotation for the investment which you will make in the Customization Design Review. This quotation will be based on scope of the review which is necessary, other systems with which your new system must interface or interact, the DDS manpower which will be required, and the travel and living expenses which will be incurred.
