Wonder4GL™

Our OpenTechnology products include, at no charge, a "no frills," high-performance database called VISION.  Many of our clients, however, prefer to use one of the popular RDBMS's.

The Wonder4GL family of WonderWare "Power Tools" allows users to deploy our products using any of the following popular Relational Database Management Systems and data sources:

• Oracle
• Microsoft SQL Server
• DB2
• Sybase
• Informix
• ODBC

Wonder4GL is RDBMS-specific; that is, a specific version of Wonder4GL is required to match the specific RDBMS.  For example, to use Oracle, you need Wonder4GL - Oracle.

Wonder4GL interfaces access the RDBMS through its native "engine" and communicate with the engine using standard SQL.  This ensures that all database rules and standards are enforced and that the full relational integrity of the database is maintained.

Wonder4GL - Oracle and Wonder4GL - Informix both make use of cursor caching to process data efficiently and to improve performance.

Wonder4GL - MS SQL Server and Wonder4GL - Sybase include features to specifically optimize performance when using these databases, especially forward sequential accesses.

Wonder4GL - ODBC is designed to work with any ODBC-compliant data source whose driver supports the core ODBC driver functions and the level 1 functions SQLColumns and SQLTables.
